I made my first cityblock recently and my only recommendation is to make them rectangular instead of square. I think rectangles work way better than squares, because the production block is usually already a square, so for optimal space efficiency you then have to weirdly wrap your train station around the production block, which gets significantly more difficult with the more complicated recipes.

Blocks should be small enough that you can reasonably fill them up. Something that drives me absolutely bananas about some bases is when folks run belts or pipes across city block boundaries. To me, city blocks are all about compartmentalizing sub-factories so that the rail network is the only way anything moves between blocks.

I had several blocks with 1000-2000 value before, but those were mostly clusters of recharge stations. Hence the mod to eliminate recharging. And now, I can't see anything above 80 and my UPS isn't even dipping below 50. I'd guess your trains are doing the same but for different reasons. I tried city blocks for 300-400 hours. It can cause congestion really fast when expanding. I read a F4 some time ago and diagonal rails should be worse for UPS than the others. So city blocks? On my current megabase I don't use city blocks or hexagon. I planned my base so I don't have too many rail section crossing each other.
